We lost Sep Vanmarcke to a lingering stomach issue but late-race call-up Alberto Bettiol embraced the opportunity to take on another classic. The Italian was part of the action all day, most notably as part of a late-race selection that a hard-changing peloton eventually nabbed near the line. Before Bettiol showed the #GreenArgyle in the pointy end of the race, Ryan Mullen represented Cannondale-Drapac in the early breakaway.
“The level is so high here. To be here, you have to be strong and you have to be lucky.” – Alberto Bettiol
“It was good fun to be in the breakaway. Now it’s a week to rest up before Flanders.” – Ryan Mullen
“Alberto is going to be big. He’s a homegrown project, so there’s some extra satisfaction in his progress.” – Slipstream Sports CEO Jonathan Vaughters
