    Q&A with Alex

  • What is your favorite music to listen to?

Country/folk. But not new country. New country hurts my soul. Weird indy stuff.

  • What do you listen to for your TT warmup?

Justice. Anything that makes me feel like a bad, bad man.

  • Do you have any unique pre-race routines or lucky charms?

They only time I ever spilled salt I crashed the next day. I always have a magic crystal and a piece of wood in my jersey pocket during races. I travel with an American Bald Eagle figurine.

  • What food do you miss most when you are traveling away from home?

Hamburgers. European hamburgers lack that 4th dimension

  • What is the first memory you have of riding a bicycle?

    Crashing into trash cans.

  • What was your first professional race and how did it go?

Honestly I cannot remember. Must have gone poorly.

  • What is your favorite race and why?

USA Pro Challenge in Colorado. Home state, home fans. The Rocky Mountains are the marrow of the earth.

  • What is your proudest accomplishment thus far?

Getting trough the Tour de France in one piece with a smile on my face.

  • What do you like to do when you have time at home that is not cycling?

Camping, little building projects, travel, manufacturing smiles on the faces of my friends and family.

  • What career would you have pursued if not for cycling? Or, what was your favorite subject in school?

High School science teacher. I would wear out of fashion sweaters and a thick mustache. Maybe a pro surfer.

  • What would you like fans to know about you?

I can't surf. Spirit animal- Coyote

  • Anything else you'd like to add?

I like cookies more than anyone.
